Thirty shallow monitoring wells were installed in the Columbia, South Carolina metropolitan area. Water samples were analyzed for major ions, nutrients, pesticides (insecticides and herbicides), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during summer 1996. Well locations were selected in residential and commercial areas constructed between 1960 and 1990. Industrial and agricultural areas were avoided. (Click on an image to enlarge)
